Milled Coinage in the name of Queen Victoria and Mangal Singh. Rupee AD 1891, Mint: (Calcutta), Silver (ø 30.5 mm – w. 11.62 g.). Edge: grained. Pridmore 1000, KM 46.
Obverse: Crowned bust of Queen Victoria to left, wearning a richly ornamented robe. Divided English legend around: Victoria's name with title (VICTORIA / EMPRESS). Beaded border.
Reverse: Persian legend in centre within linear cirlce. Mangal Singh's name with titles (from top to bottom: Maharaja Shri / Sawai Mangal Singh / Bahadur), date expressed in the Christian Era at bottom left (1891). English legend around: Denomination above (ONE RUPEE) and Country's name below (ALWAR STATE). A branch (jhar) with 15 leaves at either side dividing the legend. Beaded border.
Note: Mangal Singh was granted the title Maharaja on the occasion of Queen Victoria's Jubilee in 1887.
