Francia - Straordinaria serie di 64 Medaglie in bronzo coi ritratti dei Re di Francia, dal fondatore Pharamond (417-428) n.1 a Luigi XIV (1643-1715) n.65, coniate dopo il 1720, Opus: Thomas Bernard (1650-1713), AE (ca 32 mm – 11/12 g). Qualità: bello SPL, con splendida patina marrone (lotto di 64 medaglie).

NB: Il lotto in vendita è composto da 64 medaglie invece di 65, una medaglia, la numero 43 col ritratto di Luigi IX il Santo, è MANCANTE!!

Questa serie di medaglie, coi ritratti dei Re di Francia visti di profilo, fu commissionata nel 1712 da Nicolas de Launay, direttore della Zecca di Parigi (Monnaie de Paris) e della Zecca delle Medaglie del Luovre (Monnaie des médailles du Louvre). Negli anni successivi fu ampliata fino a comprendere i ritratti di Luigi XV, Luigi XVI e Luigi XVII. (per maggiori informazioni: roi-de-france.monnaie.me)

In un'asta recente la sola medaglia di Luigi XIV (n. 65), stimata Euro240, è stata venduta a Euro 300 + diritti (Leipziger Münzhandlung und Auktion Heidrun Höhn, Asta 70, 2 Dicembre 2011, Lotto n. 896).

France - extraordinary Set of 64 bronze Medals, with the Kings of France’ portraits, from the founder Pharamond (417-428) n.1 to Louis XIV (1643-1715) n.65, struck after 1720. Opus: Thomas Bernard (1650-1713), AE (ca 32 mm – 11/12 g). Quality: almost Uncirculated, with fine brown patina (lot of 64 medals).

NB: The lot for sale is composed of 64 medals instead of 65, one medal, the number 43 with the portrait of Louis IX the Saint, IS MISSING!!

This set of medals, with the portraits of the Kings of France in profile, was commissioned in 1712 by Nicolas de Launay, Director of the Paris Mint (Monnaie de Paris) and of the Mint of the Medals of the Louvre (Monnaie des médailles du Louvre). In a recent Auction the single Medal of Louis XIV (n. 65), estimated Eur 240 (ca us$ 320), was sold for Eur 300 + Tax (ca 415 us$ + tax) (Leipziger Münzhandlung und Auktion Heidrun Höhn, Auction 70, 2 December 2011, Lot n. 896).
