India – Awadh – Shuja-ud-Daula, as Nawab (AH 1170 - 1189 / AD 1756 - 1775). Issue in the name of the Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II. Rupee AH – RY 3 (AD 1761). Mint: Kora, Silver (ø 21 mm – w. 11.28 g.). Edge: plain. KM 162 (Marathas). Brown –. M/W – (unlisted Mint).

Obverse:
Persian legend. Couplet with the Ruler's name and titles (from bottom to top: [xxx Haft] Kishwar zad di[n] Sikkah / [Sh]ah ‘Alam Badshah / Haft [ll]ah [Muha]mmad din [xxx] = Struck coin through the seven climes, the shadow of the divine favour, Shah Alam, the Emperor, the defender of the Faith of Mohammed). Date missing. Symbols: Pataka (banner), Trisula (trident) and Flower-star.

Reverse:
Persian legend. Mint name and Julus formula (from bottom to top: Ko[ra] zarb / sanat 3 julus / maimanat manus = Struck at Kora, (in the) year 3 (of his) reign associated with prosperity). Symbols: Flower-star and five-dots circlet.

1761 – Panipat battle, January 1761.
1764 – Buxar battle, October 1764. Awadh loses Kora.
1765 – Treaty of Allahabad, August 16, 1765. The British restore Kora to Shah Alam II.
1765 – Shah Alam II under the British protection (AD 1765-1771).
1771 – Shah Alam II leaves the protection of the British and goes over to the Marathas.
1773 – Treaty of Benaras, the Nawab of Awadh, Shuja (AD 1756-1775), receives Kora from the British.
1801 – The Nawab of Awadh, Sa’adat Ali Khan (AD 1798-1814), cedes Kora to the East India Company by the treaty of November 10, 1801.
